Deputy Commissioner, New South Wales
Jeff Loy is the NSWPF Deputy Commissioner in charge of Metropolitan Field Operations which includes the three region commands within the greater Sydney Metropolitan area.
Deputy Commissioner Loy joined the Police Force in February, 1982 and has extensive investigation experience as a Detective in the Drug Law Enforcement Squad, Homicide Squad and Major Crime Squads. He led proactive Target Action Groups in Northern New South Wales until appointed to Detective Inspector, Crime Manager, Shoalhaven. His career progression continued with positions which have included Detective Chief Superintendent, Director Operations, Professional Standards Command, Local Area Commander, Campsie, Far South Coast, Albury and Shoalhaven, as well as Assistant Commissioner in Command of both the Forensic Services Group and Northern Region.
Deputy Commissioner Loy has several Region, State and National Awards including Australian Police Medal (APM) National Police Service Medal, National Medal 2nd clasp, NSW Police Medal 3rd clasp, Bronze Medal for Bravery (Royal Humane Society), a Commissioner’s Commendation for Courage and a Commissioner’s Commendation for Service as well as Commissioner’s Olympic Citation. He has been awarded his 35 year medal for services to Surf Life Saving Australia.
Deputy Commissioner Loy has several post graduate qualifications including a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Queensland. He was awarded the University of Queensland, Director’s Leadership Award for 2008.
